Third Consideration
Who will sleep on the futon mattress most of the time? Adult or Child? If you are buying the futon mattress primarily for a bed that will be used regularly, consider who will be using it. If for a child, consider these: the USF-6000 Cotton, Tri-fold USF-2, or the USF-6 Foamcore. Kids weigh less and put less stress on a mattress so they can often use a much less expensive mattress.
If the futon mattress is for an adult, you will need more support than if you are buying a mattress for a child. An all-cotton mattress is heavier but many people prefer all natural fabric. A cotton and foam mattress will have a more plush feel and will be lighter overall. Look for finger foam (convoluted foam) to give great support for your body over time. It is usually slightly more expensive because it is a more expensive product, but you'll enjoy it for a long time before it wears out.

If you are buying a mattress for a full-sized adult (200 lbs. or more), you need a mattress whose fatigue loss (softening or loss of load-bearing capacity) is less.
In general, the higher density, better-quality foam will suffer fatigue loss at 15% or less. If this bed is going to support a large adult, choose an Otis mattress, for example, the Haley 150, or a Wolf Corp. Poly-Core USF-9 mattress with many layers of support. Or you may prefer a mattress with an Innerspring.
