We can make a futon cover in any size in most fabrics. Best of all, your custom order will only cost a few dollars more. Split futons also fall into this custom order category. (Split futon covers consist of futon covers both for the main seat and for the ottoman that completes the bed when the main seat is folded out.)

  1. Please measure your cushions carefully, since custom orders are made to your exact specifications and may not be returned unless the workmanship is faulty.

  2. Please select your futon cover fabric(s) before contacting Futonsandbeanbags.com Customer Service.   It is wise to have a backup set of fabrics in case the first choice is not available as a custom order. As a general rule of thumb, our least expensive fabrics come from manufacturers who do not handle custom orders.

    • Fabrics from SIS Covers and Life Style Covers are available for custom orders. The majority of our fabrics come from these two manufacturers – they are our best quality covers and best quality craftsmanship!  (Look for the manufacturer’s name in the upper left hand corner of the product page for any futon cover or futon frame.)

    • If you are unsure of a futon cover fabric’s color or texture, it is wise to purchase a swatch first to make sure you like the fabric. The swatch only costs about $5 and will come promptly. Many fabrics have the ability to purchase a swatch in the drop-down menu on the product page. If none is available, contact Futonsandbeanbags Customer Service to purchase a swatch.

  3. Then contact us to get a quote on a custom or split size. We will use your measurements to obtain your custom pricing.

Piping and Boxed Edges on Futon Covers and Pillows

Piping on futon cover and chair fabrics is a type of trim or enhancement consisting of a tube of ornamental fabric around the top edge of the futon cover or pillows, sometimes containing a cord. The cord is itself covered with fabric, typically the same fabric as the futon cover, and is sewn tightly to the edge of the futon cover.

Boxed edges are squared edges at the corners of the futon cover that typically come with your piping order. There is an additional charge for boxed edges without piping.

Only the SIS Covers fabrics in Premium Suede colors and Denim Indigo come with boxed edges and piping already on the futon cover. Some futon cover product pages allow you to add piping to your order via a drop-down menu on the product page. If not available in the website’s drop-down menus, please contact us for the availability of and pricing for piping.

There is an additional charge to add piping to pillows, but it is relatively small and varies by manufacturer. Please contact our customer service to get information on adding piping to your futon pillows.

Railroading and Pattern Matching

On certain fabrics with a picture design, the fabric must be laid in a specific direction when the futon cover is created to achieve a balanced look.

Add $15 per cover to have the fabric railroaded and the pattern matched. If you have a preference, please specify which way you would like the fabric to run. If a chair needs to match a bi-fold futon cover, please specify that.

Duvet Covers

Futonsandbeanbags.com offers wonderful Duvet Cover Sets from SIS Covers, featured in 2008 on TV's Extreme Makeover. They are created by SIS designers to coordinate gorgeous fabrics into a set including duvet cover, duvet insert, pillows and shams. They are a standard order (not custom, so no additional expense). However, because of the beautiful fabric combinations, they are made to order so the waiting time to receive them is longer (about 3 weeks).

You can order them directly on the website. No need for Customer Service!

Duvet Covers from Any Fabric

Futonsandbeanbags.com has two manufacturers who will sew a custom Duvet Cover from any of the fabrics that they offer -- Life Style Covers and SIS Covers. )You will find the manufacturer's name on the upper left of the frame above the fabric image on the product page.)

Any of their futon cover fabrics may be made into Duvet Covers as a Custom Order for a slight additional charge ($12-$15) over the cost of the futon cover of the closest size. They are called "Knife-Edge construction," which simply means that it is a futon cover with no loft (thickness). In other words, it's "as thin as a knife edge!"

There is normally a 3-5 day additional waiting period to receive your cover on top of the standard sewing and shipping time.

We will manufacturer futon covers with fabric provided by the customer for a nominal charge. For COM orders, you will need to pay the shipping costs in both directions. We will bill for the return trip only for exact costs.
