Our beautiful futon covers come from manufacturers from coast to coast, so we can offer you a large selection of quality futon cover fabrics in a wide range of prices. Most of our futon cover manufacturers will ship not only to the 48 contiguous states, but also to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. There may be additional cost in shipping outside the continental United States.

Some fabrics are costly because of their intricate weaves, high-quality fibers and other materials used, complex patterns, workmanship invested in them, and designer colors. Others are less expensive because they are prints on fabrics rather than having a design that is actually woven into the fabric. All but one of our fabric providers make their covers in the United States.

Why Purchase Futon Cover Fabric Swatches?

Evaluating the Texture

Smooth fabrics are easy, but it can be challenging to assess on a computer screen the look and feel of a fabric with texture. Many people purchase fabrics precisely for the rich texture, just as gardeners add plants to a landscape solely for their texture.

Rendering the Colors on Computer Screens

The colors that you see may not always render the same on different computer screens because of the limited range of colors available on the World Wide Web and because different computer monitors may render colors slightly differently. Compared to the true range of colors in the fabrics themselves and what our eyes perceive in natural lighting, the actual number of colors available through the web are greatly reduced in number.

The subset are called "Web Colors." No doubt this was a decision in developing the World Wide Web having to do with efficiency in data transfer and smaller bandwith at the time, but it makes purchasing fabrics with subtle and wonderful colors more challenging.

Further complicating matters, different monitors render colors differently. That is why you see 20 or 30 computer monitors set up in a computer store so you can compare the quality of the color of each screen. What you see is what you get!

Buying Fabric Swatches

Many of our customers would like to see a sample of the actual fabric before purchasing a futon cover, bedding, or matching or coordinate pillows. Other customers would like to touch the fabric to feel its softness or determine its ability to last over time and use.

Swatches are available for almost all futon cover fabrics. Fabrics are not available for the least expensive covers, or for children's soft furniture. Manufacturers charge for futon cover fabric samples, but the cost is low compared to the difficulty and cost of returning a futon cover and paying restocking fees.

We will have swatches sent to you at the price that we pay for them. We do not make profit on swatches -- we handle them as a convenience for you. We know that you will benefit greatly in your decision making by examining a swatch of the actual fabric.

If you are considering purchasing a futon cover that is $80 or more and are concerned about subtle hues or how vivid a color really is, you are a wise shopper if you purchase a swatch first.

How Large Are Swatches?

Futon Cover Samples range in size from 3 inches to 9 inches, sometimes square and sometimes rectangular, depending on the manufacturer. Only one of our manufacturers does not provide fabric samples. Excellent Art has die lots that vary from bolt to bolt, so Excellent Art is not able to provide fabric samples.

Each product page carries the name of the manufacturer. Open the product page and check in the upper left hand corner of the page's content. Only Excellent Art does not send samples.

How Long Does It Take to Receive Samples?

Once you place the order for one or more samples, you should have them in your hands within 4-8 days. Too small for Fed Ex or UPS, they are sent in an envelope via the US Postal Service, so please give us your US Postal Service address! (P.O. Boxes accepted).

How Do I Order Futon Cover Samples?

Please type "sample" or "swatch" into the Search Box and press Enter. The product page that you receive will enable you to choose up to 3 samples in the drop-down menu. Then Add to Cart, and check out as usual, indicating in the Delivery Notes box the names of the futon cover fabric samples that you would like.

What If I Want To See the Entire Pattern on a Repeating Pattern?

If you wish to see a full design that is repeating, you may have to purchase a yard of the futon cover fabric rather than a swatch. A single yard will be sufficient.
