Futon Mattresses Comparison Chart

The choice of futon mattresses today presents challenges to the consumer. With so many variations, how do you decide which to buy? Here is an overview of our futon mattresses at a glance. This page gathers much of the information about the futon mattresses in one place so you can compare them.

For more information on how to select one futon mattress over another, please click on our step by step instructions: How to Select a Futon Mattress.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

  1. Mattress thickness: Everything over 8" thick is very comfortable, but requires a custom-made futon cover and sheets with extra "loft". All standard Futon Covers fit futon mattresses from 6" to 8" thick. Fortunately, it costs only a few extra dollars (about $10) to get exactly the right size. If you have a mattress thicker than 8", once you pick the cover fabric, check the drop-down menu for 9" loft, or call us for the custom order.

  2. Mattress Size Availability: Many mattresses, but not all, are available in full size only. Sometimes the queen sizes are too big to ship UPS or Fed Ex, so manufacturers don't bother with them.

  3. Queen size mattresses rise above the top level of the futon couch when in the sitting position. Some people would rather have a full-size mattress because it sits level with the top back of the sofa.

  4. Our mattresses are TB-603 Complaint, which means that they meet the open flame test standard for Mattresses, box springs, futons, and similar mattress-like sleep products sold in the State of California.
