A futon mattress is extremely functional. It can serve primarily as a couch for sitting and do double duty as an occasional extra bed for guests. A futon mattress might be used every night for sleeping and kept permanently in the reclined position, or it might be folded up for sitting during the day.

Some futon mattresses can be used in a reclining position for watching television. We carry many complete futons that are loungers; that is, you can leave one "arm" up and fold the other arm down to create a comfortable lounger. Some even swivel to change directions!
