of Futons.

Many of us grew up with hide-a-beds and trundle beds that we used to accommodate guests. They all did the trick, with varying degrees of difficulty getting them into the sleeping position.
One thing we generally agree on is that most were not very comfortable. In fact, some were really uncomfortable, but they were all we had. Mattresses had to be thin to be stuffed inside a sofa, so they didn’t offer much support. Fixtures were heavy and cumbersome.
The futon industry has grown rapidly over the past two decades, and now offers products that far surpass the old-style guest Hide-a-Beds in style, comfort, sheer weight, and ease of operation. They are considerably less expensive than both hide-a-beds and trundle beds – even the least expensive ones – and convert from sofa to sleeper with ease. In most cases, older children can operate them safely.
Futons incorporate plenty of style for the money. They look like living room furniture with sleek designs and gorgeous fabrics covering the futon mattress.
If you tire of a fabric color or if you change your room's color scheme, you can change the look of your futon sofa in an instant with a new zip-around cover. There are literally thousands of fabric designs and color hues from which to choose.
Fabrics range from the simplest tweeds and denims to designer-inspired woven fabrics in fine upholstery grades.
Create a whimsical look in your room with art designs, wonderful color combinations, or even mountain or shoreline scenery woven into the fabric.
But Are They Comfortable?
Futon beds are a comfortable way to sleep. Futon mattresses have evolved along with futon frames! There is a large selection available today of lightweight foldable futon mattresses designed to support all body types and all types of sleepers. No longer do futon mattresses need to be solely hard, compressible cotton.
Futon mattresses come in a variety of cotton and foam combinations, in lightweight but sturdy and supportive innersprings styles, and amazingly, even in Visco Memory Foam! The all-cotton mattress is still there, too, but it now incorporates more loft due to refinements in cotton processing.
Futon sofa-sleepers are much more flexible than a standard sofa or hide-a-bed. They are generally shipped ready to assemble, so you can bring them into upper-floor, walk-up apartments or rooms with narrow entryways and assemble them there.
They are easy to disassemble when you move, breaking down into two or three sizes of component parts that move or store easily and flatly. Futon sofa sleepers are much lighter to move than either traditional sofas or hide-a-beds, which can be incredibly heavy and cumbersome to move, even from one room to another on the same level.
Unlike the bulky appearance of traditional sofas, futon couches come in a wide range of elegant wood and modern metal designs that are lighter in appearance and fit well into small rooms and small spaces. Hence the popularity of futon couches for small guest rooms.
Futons are typically available in a variety of wood finishes to suit your existing room decor. Or choose unfinished wood and paint it or stain it to suit your personal color scheme.
Futon sofa sleepers are wonderful multi-functional pieces of furniture. Pass them on to your children when they grow up and begin their own lives in a new apartment.
Once you’ve owned a futon bed, you’ll see how versatile they are. It’s guaranteed that you’ll have a difficult time returning to the traditional hide-a-bed solutions for your kids’ rooms, living room, or guest rooms.
